When I initially setup my suse 7.2 machine I configured printing using USB and CUPS. The test page that is generated by YAST came out very well, and I was able to print from the command line. However, since sometime printing does not work anymore (don't know when it stopped exactly). Does anyone know what/how to investigate what might be wrong; dar:/var/log/cups # lpc status lp: printer is on device 'usb' speed -1 queuing is enabled printing is disabled no entries daemon present When I execute "lpr <file>" the file is being sent to queue, I can cancel it from queue as well. The cups error log tells me that cups is configured for 100 clients The access log tells: 127.0.0.1 - - [30/Sep/2001:21:59:53 +0100] "POST /jobs/ HTTP/1.1" 200 170 127.0.0.1 - - [30/Sep/2001:22:00:01 +0100] "POST / HTTP/1.1" 200 117 127.0.0.1 - - [30/Sep/2001:22:00:01 +0100] "POST / HTTP/1.1" 200 117 127.0.0.1 - - [30/Sep/2001:22:00:01 +0100] "POST / HTTP/1.1" 200 80 127.0.0.1 - - [30/Sep/2001:22:00:01 +0100] "POST /printers/lp HTTP/1.1" 200 363 127.0.0.1 - - [30/Sep/2001:22:00:05 +0100] "POST / HTTP/1.1" 200 232 127.0.0.1 - - [30/Sep/2001:22:00:39 +0100] "POST /printers/ HTTP/1.1" 200 176 The local loop is not switched on when the machine comes up, so I added the local route: 192.168.0.1 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.255 UH 0 0 0 ippp0 127.0.0.1 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.255 UH 0 0 0 lo 0.0.0.0 192.168.0.1 0.0.0.0 UG 0 0 0 ippp0 I have: rpm -qa | grep -i usb usbmgr-0.4.6-33 usbview-1.0-53 rpm -qa | grep -i cups cups-drivers-1.1.6-34 cups-1.1.6-52 which seems to be the original (non updated packages) I hope that this a good starting point to provide some information/hints/directions to get printing back to operation.... -- Richard Bos For those who have no home the journey is endless

I don't have cups but I would think "printing is disabled" warrants investigation. < snip> -- Vic
