I am just wondering if how the splash screen(the one that says suse the linux experts) in suse 7.2 and 8.0 can be done if i recompiled my own kernel. Thank you. ===== Xander R. Hi, As far as I can remember, there are a couple of tools that come with SuSE 8.0 that allows you to install custom splash screens and the like. Search in YAST2, Install/Remove Software, I found the following packages: PACKAGE: gfxboot DESCRIPTION: Here you find the graphical boot logo. Suitable for both lilo and syslinux. PACKAGE: gfxboot-devel DESCRIPTION: Here you find the necessary programs to create your own graphical boot logo. The logo can be used with lilo and syslinux. Hope this helps. Yes, and then just extract the proper patches from the kernel-source rpm, patch them into you own kernel and you should be fine.
