[opensuse] Suse 10.2 on hp dv8000 - media slot issues
I'm running opensuse 10.2 on an HP Pavilion dv8000t.... Everything is great except the built in media slots (sd-ram, etc.) don't work... Any hints on getting these working? Regular USB works fine..... Thanks, Mike Smith -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Free Edition. Lots of people, including me, have found these don't work on their laptops. It would appear that further work has to be done by the kernel group to make a device driver that can read from these slots if I understand the issue correctly. Meanwhile, for very very little money I purchased an external USB media reader and then it works fine. FWIW, the media slot on my Dell 9400 works fine with 10.2. I finally got around to testing it yesterday, and it was instantly detected, and I was able to move stuff to and fro. -- _____________________________________ John Andersen -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Regular USB works fine..... I have three HP Pavilion s7400n machines and all media slots work fine. My understanding (although I must check this out) was that the media slots are a multi-reader internally USB attached... they should work just fine if your USB works ok. The only thing I have not plugged into mine is a micro-drive. Compact Flash and sd-ram work fine. Have you contacted HP regarding the difficulty... maybe defective unit?
