[opensuse] zypper dup vs. yast2/Packages/Update if newer Version available
Hello Mates, i have a little Question. Does zypper dup the same as YaST2/Packages/Update if newer Version available? cu Sascha -- Sincerely Yours Sascha Manns open-slx Community & Support Agent openSUSE Membership Comitee openSUSE Marketing Team Blog: http://saigkill.wordpress.com German Community Portal: http://community.open-slx.de -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

AFAIK not because dup does perform vendor changes, i.e. would e.g. install a KDE package from a KDE repo although you had the official KDE packages from oss installed before. So dup installs the newest version available, no matter from which repo. In YaST "update if newer version available" does not perform these vendor changes, i.e. it disregards all packages from repos that you have not switched to explicitely as "system repos". It performs a zypper up. You can switch reops in YaST by clicking on the link on the top of the package-list which states something like "switch these packages to system packages" in order to get the vendor change.
