To sync your palm, you need at least to have pilot-link installed. There are also various front ends you could use - JPilot is very good, and KPilot has its followers also. The email/contact/calendar app Evolution can also sync with Palms, but it doesn't copy the Memo database so is best used in addition to a proper back app.
