Check that /etc/init.d/boot.local is executable by root, Check that /etc/init.d/boot is calling /etc/init.d/boot.local, Read /etc/init.d/README -- JDL Non enim propter gloriam, diuicias aut honores pugnamus set propter libertatem solummodo quam Nemo bonus nisi simul cum vita amittit.

Thanks! Looks as if it's finally fixed! :-) ...CH

Turns out, I just thought it was fixed. Yes, boot.local is executable by root and I have read that README file several times in past --as well as today. Still, once out of three boots the script executed. The If>then in the boot script points solidly to boot.local, which makes me wonder just how much else is busted since the kernel update. Perhaps I ought to seek out the original kernel & reinstall it and see if things return to normal. If I had to make a wild guess, it would be that they will. ...CH
