At first Install-CD boot I have problem with normal install (APM??) thus I start installation in "Safe Settings"
Everything is allright except at first boot:
Sync Out of Range
What's the problem?
I had no problem with RedHat-7.2
I finally booted in "safe settings" and changed runlevel 5 -> 3 in /etc/inittab. The problem lies well in the booting of X-Server. The same problem occurs when I start Sax2 (problem screen config?). -- Alain Barthélemy cassandre@bartydeux.be http://www.bartydeux.be Linux User #315631

Yes - the error means your monitor cannot display at the refresh rate you have set. The relevant information (horizontal and vertical refresh rates) will be in the monitor manual. You did keep the manual, didn't you... Dylan -- Sweet moderation Heart of this nation Desert us not We are between the wars - Billy Bragg

It is not my monitor and thus I don't have the manual if it exists. If you have it the monitor was detected as CPQ 1399 ???? AB

If Windoze is installed, you should be able to extract the info from there. Otherwise look it up on the web. Use the ID stuck on the monitor itself, not what Windoze or Linux tells you it is. Dylan -- Sweet moderation Heart of this nation Desert us not We are between the wars - Billy Bragg
