I got a friend to try SUSE 9.2. Everything works out of the box for him - optical USB mouse, t.v. card, etc. Only problem is his D-Link wireless card. According to him: "It sets the eth0 fine, but then seems to die horribly on the wlan0. YaST recognizes the card correctly (i think... it gives it the right model number at least) and knows it's a wireless card, but it doesn't seem to be able to actually make the settings stick at boot." I don't know squat about wireless, but here's the relevant boot log message: Setting up network interfaces: lo lo IP address: 127.0.0.1/8 done eth0 device: Broadcom Corporation BCM4401 100Base-T (rev 01) eth0 configuration: eth-id-00:e0:18:a1:99:9e eth0 (DHCP) . . . . . <notice>pidofproc: dhcpcd 4675 IP/Netmask: 192.168.0.5 / 255.255.255.0 done wlan0 device: Intersil Corporation Prism 2.5 Wavelan chipset (rev 01) wlan0 configuration: wlan-bus-pci-0000:00:0e.0 ERROR: command 'iwconfig wlan0 mode Managed' returned Error for wireless request "Set Mode" (8B06) : SET failed on device wlan0 ; Operation not supported. I believe he's trying to connect to the router that he uses for his cable Internet Access. I can see that his card gets assigned a MAC address, and then the DHCP gets configured. Then it dies. Can anyone help with this? Great chance to convert an already willing candidate.
