I use xmms to view divX. It's done through the avi-xmms input plugin which uses the Avifile program. I imagine you could just compile Avifile and use just it. You have to get some dll's to make Avifile work as well. Check it out on xmms.org under Plugins/Input Mark Doucette On Fri, 12 October 2001, Derek Fountain wrote:
Is anyone using DivX (MPEG4) on SuSE? If so, what did you do to get an encoder and player working? I seem to hit compile time errors wherever I try to build either the MJPEG tools encoder, or the Project Mayo player...

Personally, I like Mplayer. It doesn't have as nice a GUI, but it seems to be more solid. I've even used it to play DVDs over NFS. -- James Oakley Engineering - SolutionInc Ltd. joakley@solutioninc.com http://www.solutioninc.com

When the original poster started mentioning problems with viewing these files, I got nervous. If James says mplayer works on a SuSE system, I'm content. I too love mplayer, and it was one of the first things I had in mind to compile (as soon as I get my bloody DVD drive repaired, I'll actually install a full copy of SuSE ;). ===== -- -=|JP|=- Hit me! - http://www.xanga.com/cowboydren/ Jon Pennington | Debian 2.3 -o) cowboydren @ yahoo . com | Auto Enthusiast /\\ Kansas City, MO, USA | ICQ UIN 69 67 29 31 _\_V __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
