I must be missing something simple here. I have installed WP8 on my SuSE7.1 machine. I Can't seem to get the program to execute from the icon I created on my KDE2 desktop unless I click the start in terminal option.Similarly, I can execute the program from the command line with no problem. Normal execution from the GUI however yields no reults. Any thoughts would be welcome. I've not had this problem with WP and other dusro's in the past and am wondering what might be unique to KDE2 and/or SuSe that would cause this. Paul

Paul - There is a check box on one of the configuation options on the WP KDE icon to run the program as a user. Check the box and then put in your user name. It will run like a charm, then. Harry

Duh...I fell like a dolt...what threw me was the wording..."run as different
user" which I read as allwing the program to be run under a
different users rights etc......thanks, it runs fine as you indicate..

Would you or any of the other very kind people on this list tell me HOW to get WP8 on 7.1? At the moment I would be happy to have it running in any form at all. I have the 7 disk set and can not find WP8 on it. So I tried to install it from a Linux Central disk set I have. It gave me all kinds of errors. WP8 worked fine on 6.3, now I'm dead in the water. I miss my WP8! Please help! TIA! -- Jim Hatridge Proud Linux User #88484 Owner -- beowulf-newbie list I didn't vote for his daddy either! Jim...this appears to work with 7.1 also ... btw, I replied to your email
but it appears to be undeliverable...

DocumentID: 205248
Revision Date: 8/23/00 4:07:53 PM
The information in this document applies to:
WORDPERFECT V8.0 LINUX
Problem
The installation of WordPerfect® 8 for LINUX® on SuSE 6.4 runs through
a text based installation quickly. Various errors concerning missing files
appear, never prompting for a destination and results in an incomplete
installation. The installation indicates that it was successful.
Answer:
Using the SuSE YaST package installer, install the "shlibs5" package
from the "a Linux Base System" group.
After completing the installation of shlibs5, run the Corel
WordPerfect® 8 installation again.
