[opensuse] No sound with recent KDE 4 update
There was a KDE 4 update recently, which appears to have killed audio on my computers. When I open KDE Mixer, there are no capture devices or streams. When I go into Pulse Audio I there are also no devices, though I can see the level meter on the playback tab following an audio source. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Didn't have that problem recently but have had in past, try moving ~/.config/pulse. It will be recreated. -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://linuxcounter.net -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I have this issue each time a new batch of 4.10 updates for 12.3 is pushed out. Sound in Yast is fine. The workaround seems to be to drop to runlevel 3, delete ~/.kde4/share/config/phonondevicesrc and return to runlevel 5 again. -- Regards, Vadym Krevs -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I just tried on my notebook and no difference. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

That didn't make any difference. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

The work around for this problem is to add the user to the audio group as per bugzilla report #816942 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
