[opensuse] 10.2 Intallation issue
Hello everybody I just downloaded Open Suse 10.2 as a DVD .iso for X86 platform. About halfway through the installation I get an error that reads "Xorg. x-11;-server" can not be found on media. The install has been tried 3 times with the same results. I downloaded the .iso 3 times to enshure that it wasn't a download issue. I did the burn on more than one burner and I check the check sum of the image after download, and it checks good. HELP! Has anybody else had this issue? So far I haven't been able to install 10.2 Thanks, Chris -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

He did media checks (per off list communication). It came out fine. Three burns of three different downloads on different burning hardware. Same result. I'm thinking dvd reader issue or raw dvd media issue. -- _____________________________________ John Andersen

If so, running the media check on the target system should reveal that. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
Thanks Guys, Guys thanks for writing back. Ok I have an update on this problem. I checked the check sum on the downloaded image and it checks out compared to the info of the sum on OpenSuse.org So with John's help I wanted to confirm the sum from the dvd that was burned. I went into K3b to pull the image and the only thing that I could find was COPY DVD. I did the first step of this, which was to compile the image. It put the image in a temp directory....but it doesn't show up when I go to that directory...evey with SHOW HIDDEN FILES on. I think I chose the wrong option in K3b. What do I have to use to compile the ISO image off the dvd that I just burned?? I'm also trying to install with one of these dvds on another pc ALSO I downloaded 3 copies of the DVD image off of OpenSuse.org, the first two shows a pretty funning menu with 3 Tux penquins and a menu covered in snow with stars and snow flakes as a background....and the other one doesn't have this....anybody have a clue why? All three downloads came from the same place and all were downloaded with 2 days of each other. I can't seem to figure out what the hell is going on with this "Xorg. x-11-server" can't be found on the media" error! Also guys....is there really that much difference from the Novell Enterpise Desktop 10 and the OpenSuse version? And what address should I reply to keep the thread running? I really appriciate the help and feed back guys...thanks Chris James Knott wrote:
