This is my attempt at using isapnp.conf to get the scsi card going. Can you give me some feedback on this ? pnpdump > /tmp/isapnp.conf I copied this to /etc/isapnp.conf, and uncommented the following lines -see arrows. # Logical device id SLI4163 # Device supports I/O range check register # Device supports vendor reserved register @ 0x38 # Device supports vendor reserved register @ 0x3a # Device supports vendor reserved register @ 0x3b # Device supports vendor reserved register @ 0x3d # # Edit the entries below to uncomment out the configuration required. # Note that only the first value of any range is given, this may be changed if required # Don't forget to uncomment the activate (ACT Y) when happy (CONFIGURE SLI4161/-1 (LD 0 # Logical device decodes 16 bit IO address lines # Minimum IO base address 0x0200 # Maximum IO base address 0xffe0 # IO base alignment 32 bytes # Number of IO addresses required: 32 (IO 0 (SIZE 32) (BASE 0x0200) (CHECK)) <-<-<-<-<- # IRQ 4, 5, 7, 10, 11, 12 or 15. # High true, edge sensitive interrupt (INT 0 (IRQ 4 (MODE +E))) <-<-<-<-<-<- (NAME "SLI4161/-1[0]{SYM 53C416 }") <-<-<-<- (ACT Y) <-<- )) # End tag... hi,
(CONFIGURE SLI4161/-1 (LD 0 (IO 0 (SIZE 32) (BASE 0x0200) (CHECK)) <-<-<-<-<- (NAME "SLI4161/-1[0]{SYM 53C416 }") <-<-<-<-
/etc/isapnp.conf:48 -- Fatal - resource conflict allocating 32 bytes of IO at 200 (see /proc/ioports)
/proc/ioports shows this
01f0-01f7 : ide0 0213-0213 : isapnp read 0220-022f : soundblaster
you're requesting 32 bytes starting at 0x200, so it's 0x200 -> 0x21f, but the isapnp-read is in the middle of that range... don't know if this is THE problem, but try to change the address in the /etc/isapnp.conf file, it pnpdump normally puts many possible combinations of IO and IRQ for you to choose Hope it helps, Adilson Ribeiro
delete the (CHECK) part and try again. That worked for me with other pnp devices in the past, although I don't use them anymore. -- Rafael
