I used sax ?which I now realize was wrong?, configured and saved the mode? When I tried to exit sax, though, my screen went blank, and I ended up having to do a hard reset? When the system rebooted it was only configured for 640x480, so I grabbed my backup XF86Config and put that in? Then X wouldn't start because it didn't recognize the version 4 syntax? When I checked the startup messages I discovered that it was using the 3?3?6 server, and I couldn't figure out how to reset it to the new server? Finally, I have uninstalled X from my system, and reinstalled the 3?3?6 version from my cd, so that is working perfectly? I then downloaded the 4?0?1 rpms from suse ?mget *i386?rpm from the 4?0?1 directory?, and installed them according to the readme? However, sax 2 will not start, and even after installing the rpms my system is still bringing up the version 3 server! What do I do now? 3 hours ago this computer was running X4 without a hitch? I've gone back to scratch, reinstalled using the instructions ?which jive with what I remember doing? and it still isn't working!
