You can use KSnapShot (in kdegraphics3) . It work fine for me . There was some weeks ago i attempt to configure keyboard shortcuts to copy screen and windows but this never give results or i can' find snapshots. Regards, Franz.

use kmenuedit find the entry for ksnapshot (it's under graphics) assign the printscreen shortcut key to it. (and you can assign shift-printscreen to show the print jobs and ctrl-printscreen to the cups configuration tool and ....)
