Install SuSE from a red Hat boot.

I have an IBM with Red Hat Installed. It recognized the network adapter, but SuSE doesn't autodetect it. Red Hat is networked and works on the local net and the internet. I have SuSE install copied to a shared folder on a windows machine. I would like to know if there is a way to install SuSE from the Red Hat boot. I don't know what the NIC is, it is built into an IBM PC300PL. I have the Boot CD-ROM for internet install and a boot floppy that appears not to be needed by the CD. Any suggestions? Thanks. Buck

? Can't you determine the nic via the RH installation. You may find it listed somewhere in the file pci in /proc. Once you know that, you should be able to install suse with this information.

Is this the suse boot cd-rom?
Any suggestions? Thanks.

==== Is this the suse boot cd-rom? ==== Yes, it was downloaded from the SuSE site. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll look it up. I was beginning to think I had to install windows to find the device. Thanks again, Buck
Any suggestions? Thanks.

There is not much understandable data there :( Start kinfocenter -> pci and search for your nic. It is much better to read :) -- Richard Bos Without a home the journey is endless

I am about to check that out. In the meantime, yesterday I downloaded the entire 8.2 install from the internet so I can install from a HDD. At least that is a fall-back option. I'll see if I can make the NIC work while copying the 4+gb to the Linux drive. I look in the /proc folder and it says I have 93 items, but it doesn't show anything in there (at least not in gnome). I guess I'll have to check it out from the command line. Thanks for all the help. I started installing via ftp but with a 3 hour install time, I decided to install from the HDD I was preparing for it. It took about 30-40 minutes and is now booting SuSE for the first time from the hdd. I guess I'll see how it did. Thank you very much. I'll be here with more questions soon. Buck PS can someone pass the link to the archives to me please? I had to use gedit and file open to see the files in the folder. It opened in gedit and was easily recognized with detailed information about the card and name.
