Pascal, The Win95 machines use the c:\windows\HOSTS for name resolution and the Linux box address is in there. You're right about the SMB nor being set up properly. Question is how and why?:( Having rather publically said we could do this, I have to get a result here. If there's anything more you need, just send a reply. The guide I've been using is the Linux 5.1 manual and I've read the SAMBA howto and FAQ. The network details are as follows: Workgroup->enterprise Protocol->TCP/IP Linux IP address 102.54.100.166 Linux name->P166 Other IP addresses->102.54.100.10, 102.54.100.120, 102.54.100.5, etc. Other IP addresses->P10, P120, P5, etc. All listed in the /etc/hosts file and neatly pingable by address. Part of smb.conf is as follows... [global] workgroup = enterprise guest account = nobody keep alive = 30 os level = user printing = bsd printcap name = /etc/printcap load printers = yes wins support = no [homes] comment = home directory browseable = yes read only = yes create mode = 0750 Best regards, Patrick Kirk Enterprise Human Resources Tel: 0044 118 939 1122 Fax: 0044 118 939 3388 Executive Opportunities at www.enterprise-hr.com E-mail pkirk@enterprise-hr.com -- To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e
