[opensuse] can't read tooltips
Hi 13.2 with KDE If we hover the pointer over a button, we see a black rectangle as if we have black writing on a black background. we tried different theme, but the same blackness. Is there a setting for this? The same apps in lxde show the tip. Thanks. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Probably has to do with the particular theme you are using. Try adjusting it in systemsettings5, or just systemsettings if you are not using plasma5. -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA @ptilopteri http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member facebook/ptilopteri http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://linuxcounter.net -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

rpm -qa |grep plasma5-workspace If you have it you need to use systemsettings5

Probably, I run Tw and don't know what shows on 13.2 menu. Personally, I would use the control-line. But, you do have a system in front of you. It would require less time to "just try it" and get you quicker answers. :) -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA @ptilopteri http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member facebook/ptilopteri http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://linuxcounter.net -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Most likly cause is the choice of your theme. (In both, KDE and lxde) Please try an other theme, and check the tooltips in the applications. To get things right, either logout from your (K)DE and login again, or at minimum restart the application with the tooltips to get a clean test. - Yamaban. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

How is it possible that a theme distributed in KDE would sneak by with black on black tool tips? -- After all is said and done, more is said than done. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Doubtful the theme is as was delivered or was very little tested and is not mainstream. Then, a lot of the email here would best be served by that type of display. -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA @ptilopteri http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member facebook/ptilopteri http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://linuxcounter.net -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

- Yamaban. Hi OK We have: air air for netbooks air opensuse andobit opensuse opensuselight
androbit works until you log in again. So, it must be something to do with lxde (?) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

That doesn't compute since you previously said the tooltips *are* visible in lxde...? Can't help you with kde but, in lxde (gtk), you can control the tooltip background and foreground colors using the gui: (menu)>System>LXDE Control Center>Appearance and then select the Color tab. note: If you have the bad/shipped/unfixed os13.2 version of lxde-control-center that has no text labels, then you can identify Appearance by the icon which looks like a 4-arm color gauge. Always. In kde, they only work by changing to androidbit at the start of the session. Someone suggested it also depended on the theme i have in lxde...?
