a couple of commands that I found very helpful: route (shows the route that the computer uses to direct packet traffic) route add ip.ad.dr.ess (numerical IP here -- adds your isp nameserver to the route immediately) ifconfig (tells you what devices are currently running eg:ppp0 and eth0 and lo) use the man pages on these commands to help you understand how they work mc Ron Lavoie wrote:
I've (finally) got ppp to work. Ican dial in log on, but that's it. My phone line is engaged, but I can't do anything. When I try Arena, I can't connect to the server. I'm pretty sure my ISP's Nameserver is entered correctly.
What can I do to confirm that I *am* connected to my ISP? What should I do next to debug? -- To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e
