Hi Togan and Anders. Thanks both for the informations.
or else you can use YAST2 - "Install and Remove Software" and "search" the rpm database of your install media on the "provides" radio button. This way you can get all packages that provide that function and see at a glance whether one is installed or not and can easily select it for installation if it isn't... You'd have to go through the rigmarole of selecting the package anyway so why not use the YAST search function in your favour??? also note that the package search has a "requires" button as well so you can easily find all those packages which will be affected if you manually update that package without using YAST2 Paul Cooke
