I have been poking around looking for some formal Linux certification or training. A few questions for the group... especialy list-members in in Europe. Has anyone done the Linux certification thing? Is getting an LPI (Linux Professional Institute) certification worth it? I am at a bit of a disadvantage living where I do - the Netherlands - and not speaking the local language well enough to be able to handle a training course in Dutch... I need a course in English. So, the next question is, does anyone know of any Linux courses/certifications available in the Netherlands, Belguim, or Germany (close to the Dutch/Belgian border preferably but not absolutely necessary) that are given in English? Any pointers would really be appreciated. I have found one place in the UK that offers what looks to be a fairly intensive course and LPI certification... anyone have any experience with this company? ( http://training.gbdirect.co.uk/courses/linux/ ) The cost of traveling to the UK for a week, plus the high cost of the course (over 1200 GBP) makes me a bit cautious to jump at this one.... Clayton; This is simple, contact the UK SuSE office about training in Europe, there are centers for SuSE training in Europe, for sure in Germany, and I rememebr others were available, and they are in English from what I remember having worked at SuSE. Yes, having good training does make a difference for employment from my experience here in the States at least. Having been through it, my opinion is that LPI certification is worth it. I decided a few years ago that I would only get vendor neutral certifications in the future, and LPI meets that requirement. For me, certification forces me to dig deep into areas that I otherwise may not have explored. So, I always learn something useful from the experience. I can't say that it has changed my marketability so far, but it's nice to have on the resume. Regards, Keith
