Linksys wireless broken after 8.1 to 9.0 upgrade
Hello, I have a Linksys WPC11 used in a Toshiba 1805 Satellite and a Linksys BEFW11S4 router both of which worked fine on 8.l but not after upgrading to 9.0. The router is 192.168.169.10 on the local network. The eth0 interface is assigned to the built-in (cable) card in the laptop and it work fines. However, when I ifdown eth0 and ifup wlan0, then ping the router I get the following: PING 192.168.169.10 (192.168.169.10) 56(84) bytes of data. From 192.168.169.8: icmp_seq=4 Destination Host Unreachable From 192.168.169.8 icmp_seq=4 Destination Host Unreachable From 192.168.169.8 icmp_seq=5 Destination Host Unreachable From 192.168.169.8 icmp_seq=6 Destination Host Unreachable --- 192.168.169.10 ping statistics --- 8 packets transmitted, 0 received, +4 errors, 100% packet loss, time 6999ms YaST2 recognizes the card and configures it as wlan0. Here's the /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-wlan-pcmcia it writes: BOOTPROTO='static' BROADCAST='192.168.169.255' DHCLIENT_SET_DOWN_LINK='yes' IPADDR='192.168.169.8' MTU='' NETMASK='255.255.255.0' NETWORK='192.168.169.0' REMOTE_IPADDR='' STARTMODE='hotplug' UNIQUE='O8sC.BmEnFe_QWA7' WIRELESS_ESSID='littlebunch' WIRELESS_KEY='' WIRELESS_MODE='Ad-hoc' WIRELESS_NICK='gmlt' WIRELESS_NWID='6' The output from ifconfig is: wlan0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:06:25:2A:71:B2 inet addr:192.168.169.8 Bcast:192.168.169.255 Mask:255.255.255.0 inet6 addr: fe80::206:25ff:fe2a:71b2/64 Scope:Link UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:8 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:100 RX bytes:0 (0.0 b) TX bytes:264 (264.0 b) Interrupt:3 Base address:0x100 the output from iwconfig is: wlan0 IEEE 802.11-b ESSID:"littlebunch" Nickname:"littlebunch" Mode:Ad-Hoc Frequency:2.442GHz Cell: 02:06:94:59:71:B2 Bit Rate:2Mb/s Tx-Power:2346 dBm Retry min limit:8 RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off Encryption key:off Link Quality:48/92 Signal level:-48 dBm Noise level:-93 dBm Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0 Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0 the output from 'ip route show' is: 192.168.169.0/24 dev wlan0 proto kernel scope link src 192.168.169.8 default via 192.168.169.10 dev wlan0 Any help is greatly appreciated in advance, -Gary Gary Moore http://www.littlebunch.com
