Kernel 2.5, SuSE 8 and AthlonXP/VIA KT266A
Hi, Anyone has any experience (good or bad) with Kernel 2.5, SuSE 8 and AthlonXP/VIA KT266A/nVidia GeForce 2 MX400? I want to use Kernel 2.5 for two main reasons: 1) Time to time I've got a complete freeze of my AthlonXP/VIA KT266A/nVidia GeForce 2 MX400 machine (with 512 MB DDR RAM) for no apparent reason. Nothing work but scroll lock and caps lock LEDs on keyboard begun to blink. I have disabled some options in m/b BIOS, installed latest nVidia drivers, but once per month I am usually got this freeze (in X mode, logged in as andrei, not root). It is not much trouble but after I've got a corruption of ReiserFS root partition. 2) I am need reliable read/write support for NTFS. Thanks in advance for any information. Andrei
Hi,
Anyone has any experience (good or bad) with Kernel 2.5, SuSE 8 and AthlonXP/VIA KT266A/nVidia GeForce 2 MX400?
I want to use Kernel 2.5 for two main reasons:
1) Time to time I've got a complete freeze of my AthlonXP/VIA KT266A/nVidia GeForce 2 MX400 machine (with 512 MB DDR RAM) for no apparent reason. Hi, Are you using PC2100 ECC DDR RAM on your system? If you system doesn't have registered RAM it could cause this problem with freezing. Also try to update your BIOS to the most recent version. I have a similar system but with dual Athlon MP processors. I watched exactly the same behavior that you described below, until I replaced regular DDR RAM with ECC DDR RAM. Hope this helps in your case. Alex ------------------- this trouble
but after I've got a corruption of ReiserFS root partition.
2) I am need reliable read/write support for NTFS.
Thanks in advance for any information.
