My big mistake. An exmaple of a valid url is ftp://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/opensuse/distribution/SL-10.0-OSS-beta1/iso-i386/. I was thrown off by the instruction page and just now realized that it was an "example url" and not a valid url path.
