I'm told that LiVES is pretty good - I've never used it yet though. I'd be interested to hear back from someone who's really put this app through it's paces... http://lives.sourceforge.net/ C.

So far installing lives errors out with :: checking for gtk+-2.0 >= 2.2.0... Package gtk+-2.0 was not found in the pkg-config search path. Perhaps you should add the directory containing `gtk+-2.0.pc' to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable No package 'gtk+-2.0' found configure: error: Library requirements (gtk+-2.0 >= 2.2.0) not met; consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if your libraries are in a nonstandard prefix so pkg-config can find them So I guess I'll have to try and sort that before I can give it a go. Cheers F

I do like MainActor, if only it weren't so bloody expensive! I think $199 is very pricey for the average home user. I've written them often asking for a more reasonable price point for us home people. I'm not a FOSS purist, but I'd rather pay something like $40 for a home product like that. Of course, I shouldn't complain. One buddy of mine, who does this professionally, recently told me the studio spent almost $3K on a copy of Avid (I think). -- kai - www.perfectreign.com www.livebeans.com - the new NetBeans community 43...for those who require slightly more than the answer to life, the universe and everything.

Have you looked at kino? http://www.kinodv.org/ I've done some simple editing with it and I quite like it. Eddie
