changed during execution of find
#find / -name httpd.conf find: . changed during execution of find I am now getting this error message when i run find. I have searched quite a bit for soemone who has an answer, but none seem to fit my situation.

Had the same problem until I installed the findutils package. Now I can use "locate" instead of "find", though both are now working without the annoying error message. Give it a try. (^-^) Sandy

Of course, that only works for local files per default and only if your locate database is up to date. It seems to me your filesystem is changing during the search :-) That could be due to some subfs stuff or whatever. Simply try searching a bit more specific, like "find /etc -name httpd.conf".
