After the upgrade to KDE 3.1.4 on my SuSE 8.2 box some fonts seem to have disappeared. KNode and some text parts on web pages in Konqueror now look jagged and ugly again, just like a typical Linux system 2 years ago. In KWord the list of fonts is still there but some are dead, i.e. if you change a font in a text then nothing happens. Helvetica is gone, Verdana is still there. Does anyone have any clue which config file or setting could be responsible for this? (I really hate this aspect of Linux, with each upgrade entire config files are thrown out and replaced, ugh).

Have you run SuSEconfig (as superuser) after the upgrade? It handles a lot of these settings changes. I did immediately after upgrading all the RPMs and before restarting KDE, so I don't know if that's the solution, but my 3.1.4 setup is perfect. Don't recall. I'll give it a try. Thx. On Saturday 27 September 2003 14:45, Joe Sullivan wrote:

Hi, I had no problems with the fonts. Anyway after upgrade under kmail some icons from the toolbar are messed up. The 'New Message' icon is now a question mark instead of the original icon. Same thing happened under Konqueror. 'New Tab' now is a question mark icon instead of the original icon. I attached a sample png how my kmail's toolbar looks like. anyone any idea ? stefan

The ? icon appears when the regular icon can't be found. So it means there's an icon missing in the rpms. Guy.

Ok, thanks. Anyone of you guys have this problem ? I have another box which runs standard SuSE 8.2 + KDE 3.1.1 and I will have a look . I should start to look under /opt/kde3/share/apps/ for all pics for kmail and konqueror. stefan
Guy.

Hi, Anyone any idea where are stored all icons for kmail ( toolbar pics ) ? /opt/kde3/share/apps/kmail/pics ? Im trying to figure out why after upgrading to KDE 3.1.4 some toolbar icons are not displayed. Instead an question mark is displayed. I have found out problems with: - kmail ( 'New Message' and 'Find Messages' ) - konqueror ( 'New Tab' and 'Close Current Tab' ) rgds, stefan

Regarding this issue : I had my KDE system, before to start to update to KDE 3.1.4, version 3.1.3 So I was thinking it might be useful to restore my system to original KDE 3.1.1 and from there start to update to 3.1.4 1. I have removed all my KDE packages and QT 2. I restored all original 3.1.1 KDE and QT from DVD 3. I upgraded to 3.1.4 and all toolbar/icons are okay now (kmail and konqueror) Looks like somthing went wrong during upgrade 3.1.3 -> 3.1.4 ! stefan
