[opensuse] Installation problem with keyboard
I have been trying to install Opensuse 12.1 but I can't key in anything. It seems to ignore anything I do on the keyboard. I can't move the pointer to install. I am using a HP keyboard thru a KVM 4 port. I am trying to put it on a system that works fine on 11.4. At what point does that happen? Does the keyboard work in the first boot screen of the DVD? -- Bye, Stephan Barth SUSE Technical Services - SUSE LINUX GmbH GF: Jeff Hawn, Jennifer Guild, Felix Imendörffer HRB 21284 (AG Nürnberg) Maxfeldstr. 5, D-90409 Nuremberg Register at suse.com/susecon - Follow us at twitter.com/susecon12 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Do you mean that it works without the KVM ? Which modem and brand is the KVM ? Dsant -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Dsant I tried again yesterday evening and it started working. I don't understand why. Not looking a gift horse in the mouth as they say. Thanks ! Bob R

Not OpenSUSE but I was helping a friend with their computer a week or so ago and had a somewhat similar thing happen. Your KVM/keyboard don't happen to be USB do they? If so, and you have one, try an old PS2 style keyboard. On that particular system the bios did not load USB "drivers" [ My diagnosis - not an expert opinion ] so a USB keyboard wouldn't work until the system was fully booted. -- A veteran is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a blank check made payable to ‘The United States of America’ for any amount, up to and including their life. _ _... ..._ _ _._ ._ ..... ._.. ... .._ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Thanks! It started working last evening. I don't know why but I'm glad. Bob R -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
