Hello list Has anyone had any experience with a Lenovo T400? Is it usable with openSUSE 13.2 or Tumbleweed with a minimum of fuss? Thanks Steven Forgive me if that should come over a bit rude. But how could anybody know if you do not give at least the wlan/umts chipset and the year and the country you did buy it as reference. It is no clear what you do mean with a minimum of fuss. If you want a working machine you will not go for tubleweed. If you want to help testing new software you will go for tumbleweed especially if you are experienced in debugging and solving initial problems. I have Tumbleweed running here on an AMD PC and it has compared to 13.2 still a LOT of problems (mainly due to the very early stage of Plasma 5 and frameworks). 13.2 will work, as far as I have seen by looking at the US chipset the probem might be if you use a build in modem or if the umts/cdma card has a proprietary firmware. Qualcom works here in a X201 but...it is European. Now 13.2 is very usable. Even fingerprintsernsors work, so no "fuss".
You also do not tell: how much ram do you have, doubleboot or only linux?, if other OS which, if Windows which. How could anybody help you in a decent way I don't know but you may consider more detail. Good luck. P.S. for what is UEFI, I did not encounter any problem with UEFI install with 13.2. Tumbleweed I cannot tell, did not try. --- Alle Postfächer an einem Ort. Tumbleweed is solid here. I switched my desktop machine to a clean install and added Pacman. No problems so far. I've seen no bugs that interfere with usage from the Plasma work space. I've been using it for over a month. I though if anyone was using this model that they might say "works fine" or "It stinks" It won't be dual boot. I've got a SSD I am going to put in it.
