Hi Dale, You might try PC-Pine: http://www.washington.edu/pine/pc-pine/ -- << How can anybody be enlightened? >> << Truth is after all, so poorly lit. >> -- Neil Peart ---***---***---***---***---***---***---***---***---***---***---***--- Richard Witt Phone: (330) 672-0096 Dept. of Physics, Kent State University Email: witt@cnr2.kent.edu ---***---***---***---***---***---***---***---***---***---***---***---
For an alternate in Winblows I like Opera 5. It seems to be rock steady and easy to set up. My only complaint is that I never found a way to import my address book from Outlook express to Opera 5. Secondly, if you are going to ask a non-linux question, can you add [Off-Topic] or [OT] as otherwise some people get a bit narked =o) No harm done <smiles> Take care, Jon Jeffels -- -=[Tigersden Internet Services]=- ************COMING SOON************* -=[For All Your Internet Needs]=- * HTTP://www.tigersden.demon.co.uk * -=[P.G.P. There are a lot of reasons to be fed up with Outlook Express as a mail reader. If you explained what you did not like the most about Outlook Express or what you most desired to see in a mail reader it would be easier to give a strong recommendation. For a standalone emailer in the shareware department have a look at PMMail2000 or The Bat. My preference is PMMail, but The Bat has its share of supporters. Both have excellent filtering capabilities, full (or nearly so) PGP support, full multiple account support (your personal email, business, your wife's email account, etc.) and well thought out keyboard shortcuts. IMO Pegasus and Eudora (shareware) are not as strong as the first two in the areas that were of the most concern to me, at least not when I had looked at them some time ago. Eudora Pro was very comparable to PMMail2000 but a shrink wrapped version cost 3x as much as PMMail. Netscape composer as OK if your needs are not too complex. I am currently involved with 6 other people trying to set up a company and we are using email extensively to communicate. Recently they all agreed to switch to PMMail2000 after comparing what I could do vs what their problems were with Netscape. Going to PMMail from Netscape they got excellent PGP support (PMMail does attached files seamlessly), extensive filtering capabilities and the ability to monitor several accounts simultaneously (as opposed to Netscape - log out from one account and then log into the next account). There are other emailers but these are the ones I can remember specifically. Ralph Sanford - If your government does not trust you, rsanford@telusplanet.net - should you trust your government? Use Eudora, from Qualcomm.com. It's free. Unfortunately, the better version was 4, but now you can only get 5. I have the old 4 here, but I had to get 5 at work. Everybody using Windows, that have any sense, use Eudora. --doug At 11:43 03/23/2001 -0800, you wrote:
