[opensuse] How bad are these Machine Check Errors?
I have had some strange problems with some boots. Examining the log files I noticed: mce: [Hardware Error]: CPU 0: Machine Check: 0 Bank 6: ae0000000040110a mce: [Hardware Error]: TSC 0 mce: ADDR ffb07080 mce: MISC 38a0000086 m mce: [Hardware Error]: PROCESSOR 0:306c3 TIME 1502284262 SOCKET 0 APIC 0 microcode 22 System appears to run great except for strange boots, and now these messages. Relevant hardware listed as: CPU: Intel Core i7-4980HQ (Quad Core, 8 threads, 6MB Cache, 2.8GHZ, with 4GHZ turbo boost) Memory: 32GB Dual Channel DDR3L 1600mhz RAM (8gb x 4)Storage: 128GB sda1 1 1TB ATA WDC WD10JPVX-75J sda2 1 1TB ATA TOSHIBA MQ01ABD sda3 1 1TB MSATA Samsung SSD I boot from sda3, Win10 is on sda1, and another openSuse is currently on sda2. Anyone know if the above MCEs pose a threat? I can replace memory. but CPU is soldered in, so would have to replace motherboard to change it. It's a bit of a guess, but I had cpu errors from overheating. I resolved it by removing dust from around the cpu fan. You can check the temperature with the sensors command, and the fan speed, and critical temperature. -- ~ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

You could try piping it to "mcelog --ascii" to hopefully get more readable decoding of event. ...

MCE almost always means hardware issue. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
