Hi all,, On one of my computers, when I boot it I get an error: Setting up the CMOS Clock FAILED What does this mean? Is it important? If so, how do I fix it? The system is a 486/80MHz running 6.3. I have seen this before. On mine the internal battery died. This can also happen if the computer has been off for so long that the battery has lost its charge. To fix, just leave it on for a length of time to charge the battery.
TIA!

Try replacing the CMOS/Clock battery (usually CR2032 butten cell). It is a Lithium cell and doesn't recharge (it is supposed to last ~5 yrs.). The 486-80 should be due a new battery by now. "James (Jim) Hatridge" wrote:
