Fwd: [SLE] removing the audio track from a video clip?
Hello, everyone. I sent the message below to the list on April 9 and never saw a reply. Is this the wrong list for the question? Is it better posted to a different SuSE list? Or were there replies but they never got to my inbox?
By the way, SuSE 9.3 arrived today, so a reply for 9.3 or 9.2 would work.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thx ;o)

on Sat, 9 Apr 2005 08:39:56 -0500 Hi, everyone. I have a video clip (.wmv) that has a really ugly gansta' rap audio track I would like to remove. Is there a program in SuSE 9.2 that I can use to strip-off the audio?
Thanks! ;o) Gil
Not on the official disks, but you may try transcode or mencoder (part of mplayer). Both tools should be able to do this. You may compile them from sources, or you may get SuSE rpms from packman's site. Cheers Sunny

This might help, provided you have the right packages and codecs installed; you'll have to do some reading, though :-) fx 1. convert to avi with mencoder mencoder movie.wmv -o movie.avi -ovc lavc -oac mp3lame then 2. strip the audio with ffmpeg ffmpeg -i movie.avi -an movie2.avi documentation for other options at http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Mencoder_Introduction_Guide http://ffmpeg.sourceforge.net/ffmpeg-doc.html#SEC10
