Hello, I am looking for configuration of a Modem on my PC. It work well under Window 98, but I can't use it under Linux SuSe 6.2. I would like to do two things: - 1 Verify that I have installed the correct packages for the drivers at the correct location. - 2 Vérify that I have mounted the right device related to this package. Does somebody knows where I can find these information? I would appreciate some help. Modems are controlled by the serial module in the kernel, not drivers. In other words, it's there.
- 2 Vérify that I have mounted the right device related to this package.
If you have a *real* modem, it's not a problem. Tell us more about the modem so we can help you. If it's a PCI modem (specifically HFC or HSP types), you are out of luck, and need to buy a real modem. HFC and HSP PCI modems (they are called other things, too) are what we refer to as software modems or WinModems, which refers to the fact that they only work with Windows. If you have a PCI modem, you probably do need to purchase a new unit, preferably an external modem or an ISA modem, since there are only a hand full of PCI modems that actually have real serial controllers on the card. -- -=|JP|=- Jon Pennington | Atipa Linux Solutions -o) jpennington@atipa.com | http://www.atipa.com /\\ Kansas City, MO, USA | 816-241-2641 _\_V -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
