[SLE] "DBUS Daemon is not running"
Several days ago the default kernel on 10.1 was updated to 2.6.16.21-0.13. then over the next couple of days other bits got updated. Now, on bootup I get an error on the screen, when the Desktop displays, that, "DBUS Daemon is not running. Starting it will provide full funcitionality. /etc/init.d/dbus start ". Looking in Control Centre/System/System Services shows that this daemon *is* running (and it does not have an asterisk against the 'Yes'), and typing '/etc/init.d/dbus start' on a command line gives the message that dbus is already running. Which to believe: the error message or the Control Centre? And if the Control Centre, why the error message on boot? Anyone, please? For some unknown reason, some services report as failed on boot, when not true. Seems random. Perhaps a timeout issue. - -- Cheers, Carlos E. Not nice if this is the case especially if one part of the system is stating that something is not working but another part is stating that it is. Inspires confidence - particularly in those who use the OS in a business and production environment.
