Curtis,
You can rm the following files and KDE2 will recreate them the next time
you start it...so just do this ..
rm -rf /tmp/ksocket* /tmp/kde* /tmp/mcop* ~/.MCOP* ~/.DCOP* ~/.mcop* and
you should remove the 2 tmp files in ~/.kde2.
After doing this you can restart KDE2 and they all should be correctly
recreated. I do this EVERY time I install new base or dev RPM's from
SuSE's site..so I know it won't hurt anything...it can only help.

Thanks Ben. Unfortunately it wasn't what I'd thought. Seems on further investigation the system reported that the root partition had 3.5 GB at 100% full. The only problem with that is the root partition on has 3.4 GB of space -DOH!!! Seems it got corrupted. Luckily I could still access the root acct and back up the config/system files and certain dirs with programs. It's up and running better than before because the kde2.2 and XF410 rpms were on another partition set up as aback up. Therefor before the kde .dirs and such in the users and root dirs were ever created the new versions were in place and I haven't had one problem at all since - everything runs smoother then ever. I just have on thing to say "THANKS A LOT NAUTILUS". The last time Nautilus went bonkers it corrupted my user dir. This time it set up bad table sizes in the root and changed some permissions. Moral of the story "AVOID NAUTILUS AT ALL COSTS". Cheers, Curtis On Saturday 15 September 2001 23:38, Ben Rosenberg wrote:
