Could be, but like I said, don't quote me on that :) There've been so many different methods in the past few years, it's rough to keep the timeline straight. Either way, the original poster shouldn't have a problem using MD5 on SuSE to use the RedHat shadow file... Blowfish? Isn't that the default password encryption method in SuSE 9.2? BTW, I'm not quite sure, but isn't the encryption method stored in the password *itself*?
