Where would I find the readline libs in SuSE. Specifically libreadline.so.3

readline is part of the bash package. You'd need to compile an older version of bash, I presume. -jrh

No, readline is a separate package, readline.rpm. SuSE 8.0 only includes libreadline.so.4. If .so.3 is really needed it can be found on ftp://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/readline/ It looks like .so.3 is provided by readline-2.2.1.
