That is what I am trying to do, mount the logical directory name, but it still gives me the denied when I try to write to it. I can mount a test directory on the first drive, and write to it, but not to the other drives. This is a physical drive, the second in the system that I am having trouble writing to... Bruce wrote:
Yes it does. Remember NFS is only software that gives you access to a remote directory as a shared device, NOT a device. NFS has to talk as if knows abou everything relative to the directory and no more.
If you wish to mount a whole partition, it must be mounted as its LOGICAL ie. directory same.
ege. /usr rather than /dev/xyz.

Ok, thanks for your help, a little more info for you, if I mount the root drive on the remote system, I can write to /junk, /junk/mnt, but when I try to write to /junk/mnt/hdb1 I get the denied....the hdb1 is a second hdd in the system, does that make any difference?? Thanks for your help!

Good luck with your NFS stuff...
I have to disappear for about two hours so I won't be responding to your mail messages.
BUT have you looked through NFS-HOWTO
