[opensuse] ThinkPad can't hibernate
hi Since upgrade from 10.1 to 10.2 my ThinkPad can't hibernate (suspend2disk). Almost all the time SuSE stops on message "Preparing hibernate..." Sometimes passing thru - show message "suspend: Snapdhoting system" and exactly hibernating. I'd update 10.2 via http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/openSUSE-stable/repo/oss/ So, I need help. Start a suspend, then shift to ctrl-alt-F10 and watch messages to see if anything is reported that gives clues why it stopped. -- _____________________________________ John Andersen

Your advise was pretty good! You point me right direction. In log/messages I found statements about network shutdown. So, I just did # rcnetwork stop before suspend. Actually, now I need to place netw stop before suspend and start'em after. But where start/stop scripts? -- SY, Oleg -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I'm not sure. I have to do an /usr/sbin/rcalsasound restart after resume from hibernation, or I get no sound. But I haven't found the proper place to do so. There seem to be many places I could hack it in, but I want to do it the correct suse way. Any clues anyone??? -- _____________________________________ John Andersen

YaST -> System -> /etc/sysconfig editor -> Search -> suspend -Teemu -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Yes, very deeply hidden, poorly documented, it was easier to dig through the general documentation installed already on the computer and create a script than to figure out what the sysconfig stuff is used fof. I ultimately just created a script in /etc/pm/ to restart alsasound. This seems to work perfectly. -- _____________________________________ John Andersen -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
