This is similar to what I'm going thru w/ my build of 2.2.1.
Yes, I have lpd started it shows up at the end of the boot messages. I went back through the make menuconfig and I must have been mistaken on the parallel printer support. I am unable to find it anywhere in 2.2.2.
lpr: connect: Connection refused jobs queued, but cannot start daemon
I'm really mystified with this problem, which has consumed a vast amount of time.
Is your situation similar?
I had a similar problem with the 2.2.1 kernel. It revolved around a conflict with my soundcard. My solution? Set printer irq to 7 in bios. Use yast to setup printer on /dev/lp0 Set my souncard to irq5 It was weird, I could not use sound on irq7, even if I chose irq5 and /dev/lp1 for the printer. - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e Check out the SuSE-FAQ at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A">http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A</A>> and the archive at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A">http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A</A>>
