[opensuse] Grub problems after installing drives
Hello, After installing external drives, my system now sees the sda disk as sdc and can't boot. In rescue mode ran; # mkdir /tmp/root mount /dev/sdc3 /tmp/root mount --bind /proc /tmp/root/proc mount --bind /sys /tmp/root/sys mount --bind /dev /tmp/root/dev chroot /tmp/root mount /dev/sdc1 /boot I edited /boot/grub/device.map to point (hd0) to /dev/sdc, then ran grub-install and it says succeeded and has no errors, however when I reboot the system the system hangs at "Booting from local disk'. How can I fix this? I'd hate to reinstall the OS. Many thanks, James -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I suggest using persistant device names like /dev/disk/by-id/somethink...this avoid this problems. JR -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
