Hi All I installed SuSE 8.1 with a CDROM (hdc) and CDRW (hdd) in place. Scsi emulation was automatically set up and I added hdc=ide-scsi to the boot loader config. I have now removed the CDRW and only have a CDROM but I can't access it. I have removed hdc=ide-scsi from the config (I'm using grub). I have reset the links using ln -sf /dev/hdc /dev/cdrom. What else do I have to do and where is ide-scsi being called from? i.e. how do I disable it? Thanks in advance for the help. Eddie

Remove it from your initrd, i.e.remove it from /etc/sysconfig/kernel, execute mkinitrd as root, try it out.
