Two questions - Cloning CDs and 1280x1024 splash screen - SuSE 8.2 Pro
SuSE linux Pro 8.2 for the Intel (AMD Athlon 1GHz). Cdrecord 2.00.3 (i686-suse-linux) Copyright (C) 1995-2002 Jörg Schilling readcd 2.00.3 (i686-suse-linux) Copyright (C) 1987, 1995-2002 Jörg Schilling What is generally the best tool/options to clone an ISO 9660 disk? It holds an installable WINDOWS program. I tried various options to cdrecord and readcd but the resultant image is not installable. I would like to read the image raw from the CD to a disk image and then write it to a CDR. Is there anywhere is Yast2 to change the initial splash screen size to 1280x1024? How about the initial GRUB boot menu? What VGA mode is this? Thanks for any information in advance. -- _/_/_/ Bob Pearson Linux user number 333508 _/_/_/ gottadoit@mailsnare.net http://counter.li.org _/_/_/ I am unique and special, just like everyone else.

This usually works for me, but I haven't tried one of those damaged-so-you-can't-copy-them discs, as far as I know. You might have to adjust the --device to suit your setup. Hans

SuSE 8.2 has cdrecord-2.0-29. Did you change it, or is it a typo on your part?

I use xcdroast. Classic and reliable. No kde nor gnome needed.

Maybe it has a copy protection mechanism. There are such things :-/
Is there anywhere is Yast2 to change the initial splash screen size to 1280x1024? How about the initial GRUB boot menu? What VGA mode is this?
That's another question: you'd better post two different emails. Besides, I don't know :-) -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson

hwinfo --framebuffer lists the available modes. (You need to be root to run it.) You can edit /boot/grub/menu.lst or use YaST - System - Boot Loader Configuration to change it. -- Vic Ayres

That would be: vga=794 add it to your boot parameters in /boot/grub/menu.lst. Run mk_initrd for the splash screen changes to take effect. -- Rafael
Dont forget dd i use that one when I just want to copy a disk to burn later. CWSIV On Wed, 29 Oct 2003 13:30:00 -0800 Kastus <NOSPAM@tprfct.net> writes:
