[opensuse] RESOLVED: Mounting a 5TB NTFS drive?
The issue was trivial. The partition table was GPT and I was using fdisk to look at it. Once I used "gdisk -l" to look at the partition setup, I found I needed to mount partition 2. Sorry for the noise. Greg On Wed, Jan 18, 2017 at 2:45 PM, Greg Freemyer <greg.freemyer@gmail.com> wrote:
All,
I routinely mount USB-3 drives to openSUSE. Normally to 13.1. I don't recall ever mounting anything over 4TB before.
I'm in the field today and the only DVD I have with me is a 13.1 DVD.
I bought a new Seagate 5TB USB-3 drive. It works in Windows 10 and I have put data on it.
I can see the 5TB drive when I boot the PC in question from the openSUSE 13.1 DVD, but it fails to mount.
Is there a known problem going over 4TB? Will it work if get a Leap 42.2 machine? (90 minutes round trip drive time to my office, thus the question).

fdisk on 13.1 should see GPT.

Sorry for the noise.
Me, simply writing here about an issue, helps my mind to see the problem. Often I discover the problem before posting and I discard the email, but some times I need the "external" view and I post. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 42.2 x86_64 "Malachite" at Telcontar)

same for me. describing the problem often leads to a solution :-) jdd -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
