Best way to stop KDM ?
Hello Folks, Anyone here more knowledgable than me (most of you :-) know the best way to stop my laptop from booting into into KDM, and instead booting into console ? The old rc.config file made it to easy for me, and I need to be re-trained. I am running SuSE 8.0. Thanks, Dee

$ grep -ri xdm /etc/sysconfig ./displaymanager:# Here you can set the default Display manager (kdm/xdm/gdm/wdm/console). So I would edit /etc/sysconfig/displaymanager and rerun SuSEconfig. -- Mads Martin Jørgensen, http://mmj.dk "Why make things difficult, when it is possible to make them cryptic and totally illogic, with just a little bit more effort?" -- A. If it is console you want, why not just change the runlevel? (do it with Yast2)...if it is another GUI, you can change the option from the logon screen... -- Ragnar Steingrimsson | Department of Cognitive Sciences UC-Irvine, SSPA 3151 | Email: ragnar@uci.edu Irvine, CA 92697 | Small Green Men

1. For booting just 1 time into text mode: - At the LILO prompt, add the runlevel number (usually 3) e.g. "linux 3" then lilo boots into that runlevel 2. Permanently booting into text mode: - YaST -> System -> Runlevel editor Leen
