Novell kit 9.1 running 2.4 not 2.6??
Hi, all -- The biggest reason I was eagerly looking forward to 9.1 was because I thought that it ran 2.6, and it's not a small challenge to bring a 9.0 system up from 2.4. Lo and behold, though, it's running 2.4.21-231 (or close)!! Does 9.1 run 2.6 after all, and, if so, how do I do so? Yes. It does include both kernel version 2.6 and 2.4. You were given the option which to use during installation.

I wonder if 2.6 will solve my other little problem... Time to install again! :-) % % % > :-D % % Randall Schulz Thanks & HAND :-D -- David T-G davidtg@justpickone.org http://justpickone.org/davidtg/ Shpx gur Pbzzhavpngvbaf Qrprapl Npg!

I just installed again, went into the detailed package selection and looked for kernel, had a look at the kernel that was checked and saw it to be 2.6.4 or close. Good, right? So I go through the install, taking pretty much the defaults otherwise, and up it comes at 2.4.21.238! What gives? Hi, all -- ...and then David T-G said... % ... % % Does 9.1 run 2.6 after all, and, if so, how do I do so? Of course it does. My problem, as Vince saw, was that I was pointing to the same SuSE 9.0 /boot/vmlinuz thinking that it was actually a path to the one I wanted (/boot under each system), and so mounting my new suse91 under /mnt/tmp and running lilo brought it up quite happily.
