DevFS in SuSE 7.1 with 2.4 kernel?
Does SuSE 7.1 use the new DevFS scheme when you install the 2.4 kernel? I see no mention of DevFS in the SuSE manual. The only mention of DevFS on the SuSE website is a description of the devfsd compatibility daemon. I'm thinking about compiling the 2.4 kernel and would rather not deal with DefFS if I have a choice? Do I? Thanks, bw

No, we don't use DevFS. Partly because only a few people inside SuSE do like the way devfs is handling things.

You may safely download the tarball from pub/people/mantel/next and compile the kernel as you'll not have to deal with devfs ;-) -- Penguins to save the dinosaurs -- Handelsblatt on Linux for S/390
