Printer outputs an extra sheet after every printjob
Hi SuSE 8.0, "out-of-the-box" installation, printer is HP DeskJet 900-series. After every printjob, the printer will feed an extra empty sheet of paper. Printer was set up with zast2, and it is connected locally to lp0. From LAN clients (both M$ and Linux) this happens, also when printing from that computer console. I have tried to look from /etc/printcap for ajdustment, but no luck there. Where should I look for this?? Jaska.
I have a similar problem but worse: 16 blank pages either before or after the actual printed page. It happens if I print from Mozilla; first come 16 blank pages then the actual printed page. It happened when I scanned a page as copy in Sane but the 16 blank pages were after the printed page. It did not happen when I printed a letter from StarOffice 5.2 just now. I have SuSE 8.1, CUPS with the printer attached to another Linux box (via LAN). Both are linux boxes. Samba printing from a Windoze box works OK. This never happened before .....until the upgrade from 8.0 to 8.1. It would seem that there is some config file or such where unwanted form feeds have been inserted, I guess. Any suggestion ? -- John jaakko tamminen wrote:

Sounds like postscript output going to the printer without going thru the ghostscript filters. I had the same problem, with mozilla. It turned out that the default setup was printing to a postscript printer. So I needed to click on "printer properties" and change the command to "lpr -Plp0". I'm using cups. I'm not sure that was it, but it's working now. -- use Perl; #powerful programmable prestidigitation
Hi After googling around, I found the following advice to put into "/etc/printcap": lissuprint:\ :rw:sh: :lp=/dev/lp0 :sd=/var/spool/lpd/lissuprint :fx=flp That works now! Jaska. On Tuesday 29 October 2002 21:57, jaakko tamminen wrote:
