I had a font problem in Star Office using Xfree 4, going back to XFree ver 3 fixed the problem for me. It might just be my setup and your problem could be different. -Pete

Just saw this in a staroffice news group. Doesn't know if it works, though, I use XFree86 v3 ========================================== XFree86 v4 is probably getting your monitor size using DDC and using that to work out the resolution, which in turn forces non-scalable fonts to be scaled and then they look ugly. I had this happen and it took a while to puzzle out what was up. XFree86 v3 starts in 75dpi by default. You can force XFree86 v4 to do the same using '-dpi 75' somewhere in the command line that starts the server (/etc/X11/gdm/gdm.conf if you're using GNOME and gdm). ===================================== -- Regards Vagn Bjørno Jensen *Do Everything in One Place* StarOffice *One Star to Rule Them All*
